If you tell us you are birders, we will emphasize birds on any of our daily tours. But for the
best birding, with just your group, try a private tour.
All Canyon Dave Private Tours are just you and your friends and family.
We can alter your itinerary and customize your tour any way you wish. The full day is $1,500 plus tax. Include just you or up to 14 people (10-12 are more comfortable). Full day private
tours pick up in any hotel including Sedona.
You won't find the Grand Canyon
listed as a major birding destination, but there can be nice surprises in addition to the local species. You are
invited to join us for a tour to Grand Canyon and Navajolands viewpoints where we will focus on birds and surely
see some regional specialties.
Canyon Dave is author of the Checklist of the Wildlife [including birds] of the Grand Canyon (2003). Dave was
a board member of the Tucson Audubon Society and leader of many field trips and a Christmas Count circle.
In springtime through autumn, we enjoy
frequent sightings of the rare and endangered California Condor. This majestic bird is now "ABA listable", having
offspring born in the wild and surviving over 15 years. With a wingspan of 9.5 feet, the California Condor is the
largest land bird in North America.
We could see the Greater Roadrunner, but more likely one of our year-round residents or more common visitors and
migrants. These include Lewis's and Acorn Woodpeckers, 4 species of jays, Mountain Chickadee, Juniper Titmouse,
Pygmy Nuthatch, Zone-tailed, Ferruginous, and Swainson's Hawks, Gambel's Quail, Spotted Owl, 4 common hummingbirds,
and Phainopepla.
So if you are a birder, or would like to experience this fascinating pastime (and perhaps become a birder with our
guidance), we are your team!
Definitely call us today to reserve your private birding tour or a regular tour with birding emphasis! Bookings fill early, especially March thru October.
